“Investments bring cost savings in the long term and increase the company’s profitability.”
In recent years, labour shortages have begun to emerge in the horse industry. It can also be challenging to find a committed stable worker. The feeding of horses binds staff to stable work every day of the week. Have you counted how many hours of the day are spent on feeding your horses?
By switching to an automatic hay feeder, you can make the everyday life of the stable easier. The benefits include:
Benefits for horses
Contrary to popular belief, four feedings a day is not always enough for all horses. An automatic hay feeder is one possible solution to horses’ stomach problems, and it has numerous positive effects on the well-being of horses.
Regular feeding leads to reduced stress in horses and, therefore, reduces the risk of gastric ulcers. In nature, horses move in search of food 12–18 hours a day. With an automatic hay feeder, you can create an environment that ensures regular feeding for your horses.
The horse is guaranteed enough food to neutralise stomach acids throughout the day.
Regular feeding keeps the stomach healthy and prevents gastric ulcers and other issues.
The automatic hay feeder allows horses to eat in a natural position.
Feeding is easier to control, and the risk of weight gain is reduced.
Regular feeding prevents large fluctuations in the amount of food, thereby reducing the risk of laminitis and colic.
The horses become more physically active if you place the automatic hay feeders farther apart from each other.

Benefits for show horses
Did you know that 90% of show horses and 37–66% of sports horses and pleasure horses suffer from gastric ulcers? A horse’s gastric ulcer reduces performance. For a horse that is fed less frequently, the roughage protecting the abdominal wall exits the stomach when it empties. This allows hydrochloric acid to come into contact with the abdominal wall, causing corrosion of the mucous membrane and gastric ulcers.
The volume of a horse’s stomach is small, only 15 litres, and the stomach should contain some food at all times. Feeding intervals of more than four hours are not recommended.
Gastric ulcers can be prevented by feeding small portions to horses regularly. Ideally, there should be several feedings per day. It is also a good idea to make sure that the horse does not exercise on an empty stomach. An automatic hay feeder imitates the horse’s natural eating behaviour, which is key to the well-being of your horse’s stomach and intestines.
Maximise the performance of your show horse with a healthy stomach.
